In Abhyangam ayurveda treatment, a special type of oil massage is given in which, the body is gently rubbed and stroked according to the disease. This massage lasts 45 minutes per day and is done for 14 days. Usually, people suffering from obesity or diabetic gangrene are given this treatment.

In Dhara ayurveda treatment, certain herbal oils, medically treated milk, buttermilk etc. are poured on the forehead of the person like a slow stream concentrated on one point. This is done for 45 minutes per day and is carried on for 7-20 days, depending on the person. This treatment is sought to treat symptoms like chronic headaches, insomnia, mental tension and hysteria.
