MANA - The traditional house of Namboothiries (Keralite Brahmins).

Poomully manaPoomully mana, having history of over 500 years was considered to be one of the richest and powerful namboothiri families in Kerala. Poomully Mana was reconstructed in 1850 by Shri. Poomully Narayanan Nampoothiripadu. Poomully Mana’s members were famous for practicing Ayurveda , Kalari, Yoga and other performing Arts. The name and fame of Poomully mana was synonymous with Keralas heritage and culture. Legendaries from all over the world visited Poomully mana and has undergone training here in different art and cultural forms. 

Ayurveda and Kalari treatments were practiced here for time immemorial and thousands of people has availed this facility. Poomully manas Ayurveda treatment are carried out in a special and authentic style called "Poomully Way". The Poomully Mana was famous for its Kerala Style of Architectural Design. For centuries Poomully Mana’s name and fame continues, and it has contributed in its own way in preserving and nurturing the tremendous and rich heritage which is unique to Kerala.

Poomully Neelakandan Namboothirippadu

Poomully manaThe late Poomully Neelakandan Nampoothirippadu popularly known as Aram Thampuran was born in 1921. He was a living legend and was an expert in all walks of life. His primary education was in the traditional manner and the Veda Lessons were completed under the guidance of his father, after which school and college education followed.

Later under the tutelage of Shri. Cherukulapurath Krishnan Namboodiri, who was a disciple of the illustrious Koodalloor Gurukulam System, Shri Namboodiripad had undergone rigorous training in Kavyam, Tarkam, Meemamsa and Vedanta. His deep knowledge in Meemamsa has been acknowledged by the Jagad Guru Sree Sankaracharya of Sringeri.
