SECOND VISIT TO KERALA : Kovalam, Poovar & Kanyakumari

During their first visit to Kerala in 27th February to 4th March 2017, Mr. Niraj Mani and his wife Rekha Prabhu, from Bengaluru fell in love with the beauty of Kerala and maybe that was reason why they came to Kerala for the second time. For their second visit they yet again chose the Sagara Beach Resort in Kovalam, Kerala for their stay. This resort in Kovalam lies adjacent to the famous lighthouse at the southern end of the Kovalam Beach.

They arrived at the Trivandrum International Airport on 12th August 2017. From here they were taken to the Sagara Beach Resort, where they freshened up and set out to explore the beaches of Kovalam. From here they went on to the Sagarika Marine Research Aquarium and Hatchery, which is just a minute from the resort. At the aquarium the guests came across a variety of fish species. From here they moved on to the Kovalam Beach. After spending some time at the beach they went on for a 1 hour boat cruise, which took them to various other beaches of Kovalam like Hawa Beach, Samudra Beach and Lighthouse Beach.

The next day, 13th August, they went on a one and a half hour boat ride to the Poovar Island in Thiruvananthapuram. Here they experienced a serene backwater which is lined with dense mangrove forests on both the sides. Because of this they had a feel of cruising through a backwater jungle just as seen in the English movie Anaconda. They then stopped at one of the floating restaurants to enjoy a scrumptious lunch. While on the way to the Golden Sand Beach they saw the sight of an elephant taking bath in the backwaters. After reaching the beach the couple had a great time and just as its name says the beach is indeed golden.

On 14th August, they went to the Southernmost Tip of India, Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu. They visited the famous Vivekananda Rock Memorial. Built in memory of Swami Vivekananda, this monument lies on two rocks and hence the only way to reach this place is by a boat. The couple were very keen on visiting this monument. They went on and enjoyed the boat ride. They also visited the Thiruvalluvar Statue nearby. This statue is made in memory of the Tamil poet and philosopher Tirvalluvar. They enjoyed the sunset view and returned back to Kovalam.

Their trip came to an end on 15th August. They went on to Thiruvanthapuram International Airport to catch their return flight to Bengaluru.

Mr. Niraj and Mrs. Rekha had a great time in Kerala. They also enjoyed their stay of 3 days in the Sagara Beach Resort, Kovalam. They left with great memories and lot of impressions of the God’s Own Country Kerala.
