Kerala is not only about cool coconut groves and lush paddy fields, palm fringed beaches and emerald backwaters, verdant hills and rain forests, but much more than that. It is also a treasure trove of architectural monuments, a contribution of the different religions and faiths that set have root in its soil since time immemorial.

The diverse religious communities and historical backgrounds have greatly contributed to the monumental wealth of the state in terms of its heritage and culture. Some of the great architectural treasures forming landmarks of the state, like the beautifulwooden palace at Padmanabhapuram and the 16th century Jewish synagogue at Fort Kochi are marvellous tourist attractions definitely worth a visit.

The stately monuments of Kerala are symbolic of its art and architecture. The massive forts, once a witness to the chaos of sprawling powers and kingdoms, stand silently as an acknowledgment of the past glory. The ornate temples and magnificent churches are also reminiscent of the elegance and prosperity of a bygone era.
